Deriv bot strategies, explained with numbers

Most Deriv bots use one of a handful of money-management systems. They all decide how much to stake, not whether you win. Here is how each one behaves when things go wrong.

TraderScheme's bot builder includes these as quick strategies, and several free bots use them. None of them changes the odds of a trade. They only change how your stake moves after wins and losses.

Martingale

After every loss, multiply the stake (usually by 2). After a win, go back to the starting stake. One win recovers the losing run plus a small profit, but the stake grows fast:

Losses in a rowNext stake (USD)Total risked (USD)
00.350.35
10.701.05
21.402.45
32.805.25
45.6010.85
511.2022.05
622.4044.45
744.8089.25

After seven losses in a row from a 0.35 USD start, the next stake is 44.80 USD and almost 90 USD is at risk, all to win back a few cents. Always set a maximum stake or a maximum number of steps.

Reverse martingale

The opposite: raise the stake after a win and reset after a loss. Losing runs stay cheap, but a single loss gives back the whole winning streak. It suits traders who want small, capped losses.

D'Alembert

Add one unit to the stake after a loss and take one unit away after a win. Stakes grow in a straight line instead of doubling, so losing runs are much less painful than with martingale. The trade-off is slower recovery.

Oscar's Grind

The goal of each cycle is to finish one unit up. After a win, raise the stake by one unit (but never above what you need to reach the target). After a loss, keep the stake the same. It is slow and steady, but long choppy runs can keep a cycle open for a long time.

1-3-2-6

A positive progression over four wins: stake 1 unit, then 3, then 2, then 6, and start again. A loss at any point sends you back to 1 unit. The most you can lose in a cycle is small, and four wins in a row returns about 12 units at even-money payouts (a little less on most Deriv contracts).

Before you run any bot: test it on a demo account first, set a stop-loss you can live with, and remember that a bot only follows rules. It cannot predict the market, and past results do not guarantee future ones.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Deriv bot strategy?

None of them improves your odds. Choose the one whose worst losing run you can afford. For most people that means D'Alembert, Oscar's Grind or 1-3-2-6 rather than an uncapped martingale.

Does martingale work on Deriv?

It recovers losses only as long as you can keep paying the growing stakes. A long losing run can empty an account, so always cap the stake or the number of steps.

Can I use these strategies in TraderScheme?

Yes. They are available as quick strategies in the bot builder, and several free bots use them.
